Koby will think you’ve been attacked by a wild animal and I’ll be in big trouble.

Somehow I think he'll understand the nature of the animal and will be fine with it. May even need to make some marks of his own.

He does understand everything, doesn't he? He'll probably know it's me just from the imprint of teeth.

Of course he'll know. Just make sure that you leave no surface uncovered. We have to make him work for it if he wants to leave marks of his own, of course.

A race where I'm the finish line?

Speaking of which, do you have anything planned for his birthday?

And I haven’t yet. I was hoping to work with you on it. I’d like to surround him with everyone here who loves him.

We'll need a very big room, then. A party? Bigger than Kobymas.

He deserves it more than anyone.

And maybe something quiet after. The three of us? I know he has some movies he want's to watch, though what they are I couldn't say.

That'd be nice. I could spend the night, it's been a while.

Does he really? He usually doesn't care about them until they take place on a boat.

It has been. It will be nice to have both of you in the bed together.

But it was a movie about a duck. Maybe it reminded him of Lincoln?

[ don't ask q. he doesn't get movies, and he's just nodding and smiling most of the time. ]

I miss those days sometimes. Not being on the outs with Hawk, but you two. The nights I had the privilege of sleeping in the middle.

About a duck? Is it a cartoon?

You know, they added another pirate movie. Don't tell him, I want it to be a surprise.

This room is as much yours as it is ours. You should let me sneak into your bed again some night, if that man won't be waiting there to stab me.

Another pirate movie? I will keep my lips sealed. I think the movie was real - I think the animals spoke.

Oh, stop. He's not gonna stab you. But he's always in my bed, you'll be hard pressed to find it unoccupied.

They...spoke? The ducks.

[longitudinal]

Then I insist we take an afternoon nap very soon. Maybe out by the lake.

And the ducks spoke, but the pigs spoke too. Many of the animals spoke. I only saw a moment of it because we were on our way somewhere else, but he wanted to watch it.

I don't know if I want to fall asleep out by the lake.

That sounds ridiculous. He doesn't think musicals are realistic, but he likes talking pigs?

[longitudinal]

Then come to my room. The window's open - it's sunny today.

The pigs aren't talking to humans. They are talking to one another, so maybe it is more realistic?

I should really check in on the chapel and see if they're done putting it back together.

But I guess that can wait for tomorrow.

That might not be so bad. We can try it.

[longitudinal]

Just a little while, then I'll walk you to the chapel after if you still want to after.

[ he can't help but flirt, especially after their exchanges, but something about just lying curled up together in a bed and talking and napping sounds almost more thrilling. ]

I will sit and watch and we may talk about how silly it is after. But he seemed excited so we will watch the talking pigs and ducks, then do something after to forget all about it.

I don't want to offend him if he loves it. But making him forget all about it shouldn't be too tough, between us.

Excellent. I'll warm up your side of the bed for you.

I'll do the same when we're distracting him, too. 😇
