[ It's at this point in the game where paranoia is in every corner. He could just be saying this at Stefan's urging, because he knows what Tim did last time (or didn't do). He thinks Tim is easy to manipulate. He's been honest and forthcoming with him since coming back to themselves, and Stefan has to be caught in a lie to give him anything back. He's accepted that. He's used to that. Stefan's hardly the only one in his life for whom that is true.
( he has no reason to lie nor obfuscate, past his own desire to protect. he's well aware, from their lone conversation, and all his fabricated memories, how dogged tim is. and still, tim is right: there's little time to be coy. )

Can you focus your efforts on someone who needs it this time? We have two who can raise people from the dead, the wolves won't want that to happen again.
