In some ways. I'm free to be who I really am here. That's not possible back home, not without decades of fighting for it. I didn't have my every need provided for, but I don't want that.

The constant danger, and the magic, and the monsters are all new and terrible. I was safe, back home. More or less, as long as I kept my mouth shut.

I'd go back if I could, if that answers your question.

Not yet. From where I was standing before I came here, it just never seemed possible. You might as well fight for a pig’s right to fly. But I learned that it’s possible here. Here, saltburnt, but also back home. Within my lifetime, if I’m lucky.

I intend to join the fight when we find a way back. But it’ll be more political than guns blazing.

I’m sorry you’ve had it so difficult. You deserve a better world than that.

I was like that. Or Teo was, back in June. He taught me some important lessons. Sometimes that kind of strategy is necessary.

My world is close enough to this one that I've got the luxury of knowing that it can. I know I'm luckier than a lot of people for that.
