His behavior last year was appalling. But he wants to win. He'd leave out evidence pointing to a spade, but probably want to catch others for the sake of winning.
Yes, well, you’ll be displeased to hear he’s assembling a case against Hawkins. I think it tenuous, but given the chaos of these early accusations, I fear it may gain traction.
His case presumes Danny Johnson’s innocence and positions Hawkins as one of our true Diamond killers: A lapsed believer, staging Castiel’s death.
I think him genuine enough in his insecurity of faith, as a god himself, fearing retribution from wayward followers. He noted his suspicious of Hawkins in the first round as well, when he spoke to you about your beliefs, so it isn’t merely a distraction from Armand.
And yet I find it lacking. Hence my warning to you and yours. Set is cleverer than his humour suggests and like to gather his supporters before any accusation is made.
Yes, I pointed out the inconsistencies, and he deemed me inflexible.
[ bashing his head against a wall, etc. ]
I agree. I’d prefer we all focus on finding the Alpha. Now, I’m not certain what can be done to stop this diversion, but perhaps if you and yours are prepared for it, it will land less, ah, explosively.
[ he isn’t mine anymore. secondhand agony. he would not be standing, without astarion near and true. ]
I’m sorry, Tim. That’s a painful, difficult thing to weather, even without our present stressors.
If there are any others you think it worth me speaking with, please do let me know. I consider myself an uninvolved and unbiased party in the affairs that have animated Danny’s accusation and now Hawkins’ counter — apart from my distaste for killing as a hobby and cruelty as a vice, I suppose — so if that is of any use to you, I am at your service.
[ he gives it due consideration, when he’d like nothing more than to reject it outright. ]
He is a rogue, not a ranger, so more likely to wield a blade (or, indeed, his fangs), but he’s a capable archer. I would not rule it out, however much I’d like to.
However, the grouping of clues and general evidence is how we landed upon Yelena, who appears to have been innocent, so I wouldn’t necessarily couple the Spades clues with this skillset (whereas I knew a Heart had killed Peony, specifically, and so could reliably narrow the field using both method and role clues). We’ve four wolves still to catch and other archers amongst our number, including the vampire Good Stab, the superhero Kate Bishop, and all who accepted the role of hunter.
What we have right now points to a spade and a heart. Good Stab and Kate aren't on that list. I'm sorry, Gale.
What about the lavender? Is that specific to your world? I've been around a lot of magic users and never heard a thing about it smelling like lavender.
A Spade and a Heart only account for two of the dead, Tim. You know that. And we still require a Diamond for the death of Giles.
Forgive my ego, Tim, but none of the other magic users present are as accomplished as I am. I rose as high as one can without ascending to godhood itself. That is to say, I think it true of any magic not born of the hells, as August’s is. Mine is particularly potent in this regard, if you should like to apply the same logic you have to Astarion to myself.
Gale, I sympathize with your partner being under the spotlight. I don’t enjoy this line of questioning. I really hope you know that. But if you’re telling me not to match the other evidence we have with Melissa’s information because Homelander (who had no team suit or physical description) was wrong about Yelena, then I don’t know what to tell you.
I dated a wizard for six months before this place saw fit to send him home. I never smelled any lavender. Does he have the magical ability that would smell familiar to you?
It’s possible you could be the dark-haired heart. Who would you have killed in the first round?
I understand, Tim, I truly do. And I want this bloodshed to end, so I never need stand guard over another child’s severed head.
That is precisely why I am applying rigorous logic to this, as I have to all my votes and accusations. I’m telling you not to match the evidence because it could lead us to yet another false catch. Our sharp-shooter could be the dark haired heart as much as the light haired spade, or one of the other two wolves. Our magic user, the same. Homelander’s accusation is but one example of where we’ve used the same technique and faltered.
No, Astarion isn’t magically inclined.
[ sorry to my man’s little firebolt. it’s not giving sure and brutal blaze. ]
I don’t know who either of us would have killed the first round. There was much magic in the second, obviously, despite the first lacking any at all besides compulsion. I have command spells that could have instructed Paul to go willingly, though I can’t imagine why I would have drained him in such a way.
So we look for archers among the hearts, and magic users among the spades, too. But we have to limit it down somehow. There is never going to be enough evidence to soothe every doubt.
You said he was good with a blade. It could have been Will.
To bring him blood? To frame the vampires in a specific way which would exclude your partner, since he seems like he's the only one who can't use mind control?
I know we won’t be wholly certain until the smoke blooms red, but you understand why I cannot support your theory, when doubts remain, and why I will stand against it, should you raise it.
I think almost anyone with a knife could have killed Will. On the matter of Paul, the gathering of blood has use for a vampire, yes, when Louis and Armand both…cook with it, for lack of a better word, but also for a spell or an offering. It could be this was the Alpha’s first kill, given the ritualistic nature of it.
Spike also lacks the compulsive ability, for whatever it’s worth.
I raise an alternative, as tick our proverbial boxes: Bucky is a superhero, a dark haired male on the Hearts, and in possession of the superior strength required to have removed Koby’s head. Stephen can tell you whether he is also sharpshooter, I’m sure.
I'm sorry, but not anyone. I was at the scene personally. Will was killed quickly, by someone who knew what they were doing. He was dead so quick he didn't have time to struggle or stumble or spread blood all over the place.
Bucky seems like a strong candidate. We're looking for four.
I can give you some time, but not much. We're going to run out soon, and I fear for the scarecrows if we don't succeed.
Astarion was sentenced to death and centuries of imprisonment by a cruel stranger once before.
I would not liken you to the one who turned him, but he has asked that I present the case against him, for the sake his heart, and so I beg you to allow me this.

Any more who are reasonable enough to see through this. Or someone who can sit down with Set and explain single-digit math.
